I've known it for years, but now the U.S. government agrees; Ania's too good to let go! Today, after living here for more than eight years, Ania was officially sworn in as a Citizen of the United States of America.
Mustard flowers add color to an already gorgeous day. Spring really wants to arrive!
Ania went out of her way to make my birthday an awesome day for me. I had a really nice time with my family, and got some really cool gifts!
The Friday before my birthday, I got an Xbox 360 (Taylor's and Carter's bad influences didn't help my attempts to resist and Ania & my parents thought I should treat myself), Halo 2 (I always regretted not having an Xbox because I wanted to play this game), and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (The game's as good as I thought; thanks, Mom & Dad!), so that laid the foundation for video gaming fun over my birthday weekend. ;)
Update: Jené and Carter sent me the game Prey for my birthday. I agree with Carter's review; it's sometimes dizzying, but fun! Thanks, guys!
The morning of my birthday, Ania led me out to our backyard. My mother-in-law, Wanda had conspired with Ania and our friend Marlena (who let them use her SUV to carry it home) to get me a European White Birch tree! It's my favorite kind of tree, and I enjoy seeing them every time we're in Tahoe. I really like the sight and sound of the leaves rustling and fluttering in the wind.
Next, we went to Rutherford Grill (which is happily becoming a bit of a birthday tradition for me) and my parents treated us to an indulgent lunch, after which we went home and Ania and I played video games & relaxed for the rest of the day. :)
We just got fax spam entitled, "Stock Alert: XXXX* Brand Awareness". (I replaced the company name with XXXX, just for good measure.)
Unfortunately, thinking I'd accidentally printed a picture I was looking at, I pressed Cancel before it finished, not realizing it was a fax (ringer on silent for that line).
I get fax spam sometimes at work, but this is our home phone line. It's only ever answered by our fax, since we use our mobiles for incoming voice calls.
Guess we'll have to get on the Do Not Call list, but it'll be interesting to see if this starts to happen more now that one company has made a successful (they found the listening fax on our line) connection.
Update: 2005.04.13
Well, it may be that we ended up on some list; we received our 2nd fax spam today.
I think it's useful to be aware of and be able to look back on how I use technology, as a "metric" on a specific area of self improvement. It's by no means complete, but I'll probably update it at least some, if not continuously. Right now, (2005.03.06) it's just got whatever occurred to me in the 5 minutes it took me to write this initial post.
